GENUS ANGELICUM


Music for the Consecration of Puebla de los Ángeles' Cathedral (1649)




In 1649, Puebla's chapel was one of the biggest and richest orchestras in Spanish territory. This programme recreates the splendour and solemnity of Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla's polychoral monuments writen for one of the greatests musical events in Spanish Mexico.


13-18 performers: singers, cornetto, bajoncillos, sackbutt, violin, viola da gamba, organ, harp, guitar and percussion.
